Valentine’s Day Ideas You Can Use for Any Holiday

Happy Valentine’s Day! I love Valentine’s Day and the sweets that go with it! Here are 3 Valentine’s Day ideas you can use for any holiday!

  • I let me husband know I appreciate him
    • Insert post its notes – quick cheap easy and thoughtful.
    • I wrote down the top 20 things I love about him on post its and posted them on his mirror so he could see them as soon as he woke up
    • In honor of Valentine’s Day I of course used pink post they are in the shape of a heart but you can use this idea on anniversaries/ birthdays – anything!
    • Who wouldn’t want to wake up to notes about how awesome they are!?!

  • I gave my family a treat that won’t hurt the waistline – too much!
    • Valentine’s Day inspired parfaits!
      • Bottom layer: Strawberry Jell-O
      • Middle layer: Cool whip and diced fruit
      • Top Layer: Fruit garnish – I used a Strawberry rose
      • Quick, easy and sweet!

  • Then I made a sweet that is a little sweeter
    • Holiday inspired cookie – this one is my grandmother’s recipe. Two years ago she finally gave the recipe to my mother and there have been some colorful words – ok very colorful words between my sisters and I as to who gets to take the cookies home after she bakes them because they are our favorites so I finally just got the recipe!
      • The middle of these cookies can be any color (St Patrick’s Day is coming up… bring on green version of these cookies!)
      • Recipe: Pecan Thumbprints
        • Blend – ¼ Cup of Sugar/ 1 Cup of butter
        • Beat – 1 TSP Vanilla/ 2 Cup Flour/ ¼ TSP Salt
        • Stir in 1 Cup of finely chopped pecans
        • Roll into balls and shape with thumb for well
        • Bake 300 degrees 25 minutes
          • Icing: 2 Cups of confection sugar, 1 TSP Almond extract, ad water until icing can drip off spoon into well of cookie
        • ENJOY
